Rock's wild man, Ty Segall, is back with a new self-titled album (available now via Drag City) that finds him at times at his most tender while still pushing sonic boundaries to their very limits. Segall and his current crew, The Freedom Band, hit Solana Beach's Belly Up Tavern on Friday night, January 27 to melt faces and herald the release of his latest long player.
Crowds at a Ty Segall show are, generally speaking, ready to let loose the moment the man hits the stage and Friday night's show was no exception. Moshing, crowd surfing and often spilling over almost right on to the stage, the fans gathered were primed and ready to experience Segall's latest material as well as tracks from his earlier work.
Check out my photos from the night, also featuring openers The Meatbodies, below and for more on Ty Segall be sure to visit ty-segall.com. Special thanks to Drag City for arranging coverage of the night.
