The enigmatically captivating Crystal Castles is back, refreshed and ready to take the world by storm once again with a new album, "Amnesty (I)" (available now via Casablanca Records). Following a much discussed split with former vocalist Alice Glass, songwriter Ethan Kath has regrouped with a new front woman in Edith Frances as the duo stopped by Santa Ana's Observatory on Thursday, September 22.
It's almost shocking how comfortably Frances fits into the role of front woman for one of the most revered electronic acts of the past decade. Acting as something of a cross between exorcist and catalyst for the sea of fans awash in violent strobes throughout the duration of the band's set, Frances was nothing short of a mesmerizing focal point amidst the chaotic dissonance. It was a sight to behold for sure and a night I'm not likely to forget anytime soon.
