Porches, Alex G and Your Friend at The Constellation Room - 3.31.16

Santa Ana's Constellation Room played host to a varied night of detached synth rock, midwest experimentation and anti-social angst on one stellar night as New York-based dance rock band Porches, along with label mates Alex G and Your Friend, stopped by the intimate room in support of the their debut album, "Pool" (available now via Domino Records) on Thursday, March 31.

I warmed to Porches immediately after hearing "Be Apart," the first single off "Pool." The track's deadpan beats, wistful vocals and retro style were all right up my alley. But as cool as the band may present themselves on record, Porches puts on a surprisingly impassioned performance on stage, with frontman Aaron Maine frequently resorting to charismatic gestures throughout their set. Check out my photos from the night, also featuring Alex G and Your Friend, below. For more on Porches, be sure to like Porches on Facebook and follow @porches_hiii on Twitter.
