How good are Those Darlins live? They actually managed to get a group of grown men (and some women) to throw down in a mosh pit mid set-and in the OC of all places!

I was so taken with Those Darlins down and dirty brand of rock and roll by way of Nashville. The quartet tore through a blistering set featuring cuts from their latest, "Blur The Lines," as well as their previous albums this past Friday night at The Constellation Room, slowing down only briefly for a moment of genuine beauty during the song "Oh God."

Front-women Jessi Zazu and Nikki Kvarnes had great chemistry together, playing off each other brilliantly (sometimes literally); Zazu's bratty vocals perfectly complimented Kvarnes's cool presence.

I was more than a little disappointed with the audience at times. Orange County crowds have a tendency to be a bit reserved and unfortunately this night was no exception. At one point Kvarnes even had to beckon fans closer as she stepped out on to the floor during one of her numbers but by the time the band got around to performing "Screws Get Loose" the audience got the idea that this was a rock show and actually started to enjoy themselves.

Those Darlins are currently touring the US, be sure to visit their site for tour dates and check out the full gallery from the night over at our Flickr page!
